For 20 years, Pantone Color Institute releases a color of the year. The colors range from blues to greens and reds to oranges. This year they have announced the color of the year is, Living Coral.

How do they pick the color of the year?

Pantone Color Institute does some extensive research. They follow digital trends and countless hours of market research to determine the year’s color. They describe this color as a color trend forecast for consumers. Which boils down to consumer goods will most likely be in Living Coral. These products can range from clothing, makeup, cakes and desserts, and interior design.

“The Color of the Year selection process requires thoughtful consideration and trend analysis. To arrive at the selection each year, Pantone’s color experts at the Pantone Color Institute comb the world looking for new color influences. This can include the entertainment industry and films in production, traveling art collections and new artists, fashion, all areas of design, popular travel destinations, as well as new lifestyles, play styles, and socio-economic conditions. Influences may also stem from new technologies, materials, textures, and effects that impact color, relevant social media platforms and even upcoming sporting events that capture worldwide attention.” Pantone

Pantone’s Color of the year usually creates a big splash in the digital world. Bloggers, homemade producers, graphic designers, and many others follow the color trend to push products and services.
