Grilling
Be safe! Cook smart!

The sun is out. The weather is warm. People are swimming. BBQ’s are every few blocks and with BBQ’s comes the lingering smell of grilled chicken and vegetables. It’s Summertime. It’s beautiful. It’s perfect. It’s dangerous.

Summertime is a time of intense heat and with intense heat things tend to dry up! This is why a majority of fires happen during the Summer. And while there are many different causes of fires, and many different places in which they can happen, house fires often begin with the grill! Luckily, we’ve got 5 rules to help you prevent BBQ fires:

Preventing BBQ Fires

1. Never leave your grill unattended.

2. Before you begin cooking, make sure your grill is far away from home siding, deck and any flammable deck sealing.

3. Create a “No-Kids Allowed” 3 foot diameter around the grill.

4. Only use your grill outdoors!

5. Periodically remove fat and grease build ups underneath the grill to avoid any unexpected ignition.

While fire prevention methods are very important, sometimes fires are unavoidable! Situations like these can be shocking, life changing and even lonely. Luckily, we’re here to tell you that you’re not alone. In the aftermath of a fire, when everything seems ruined, call on someone reliable. Call someone you can trust. Call someone that’s been serving you as the top contractor in the Johnstown, PA, Latrobe, PA, and Altoona, PA greater area for over 34 years and is an expert on fire damage restorations. Call Mihalko’s because we’re here for you and we can help!

There are many more preventative measures to take when it comes to fire. For a full list of fire prevention methods, check out the U.S. Fire Administration website here: http://1.usa.gov/rQU1L6.
